More WIW last week: Leopard, Lace, and Polkadots

To avoid too many photos in one post, I put the white pants in the other WIW and everything else here.
1: blush jeans with sheer leopard top over blush tank, python belt and pewter athletic flats for lots of walking.
2/3: VC lace tube skirt from the Rack. I need a short boxy top for this. I'm not sure this outfit worked but tried for a mix of texture.
4: VC red trousers that I lengthened as much as possible. Is it enough? The topper was a wrap top now with strings removed. Does it look ok as a cascading cardi? It is the right weight.
5: for church I wore my silk Classiques Entiere flared polkadot skirt, a white Gap tee and wonderful moto jacket from dear Sandy. Happiness is always over the top with this jacket. 6 is the clutch I used. It has gold hardwear like the jacket. Shoes are MeToo.
Please tell me what you think works and what doesn't and any suggestions to try. The hair will be shorter after Thursday.

Your pattern mixing abilities are just fab!  Completely in love with outfits 1,5/6.

  • Kimberley replied 10 years ago

I love #2 and suspect the textures show up better IRL.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

    All are terrific, Joy.

The pant length is fine, and the cardi is working.  As much as I love jackets, sometimes a sweater topper is more comfy and softer.  I think a boxy top for #2 would be great, but the way you've styled it reads as a two piece dress in the pic, and looks fab.

I love the understated animal print in #1, but #5-6 blows me away!

Joy, I actually love #2. Is that lace pattern or actual lace overlay on the VC skirt? It looks great with the belt and those shoes!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Suz, it actually is a lace overlay on stretchy black knit fabric. I just love this skirt and need to find more ways to wear it.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

Good grief Joy. You knock my socks off.

  • shemarie replied 10 years ago

They are all wonderful Joy! Like Suz, I love #2 especially and it looks amazing on you.  There's just something about the juxtaposition and the contrast to me. The belt and shoes with the lace are the perfect bit of edge to keep it from being too sweet.  I so need to learn how to do this...looks like you are just a natural!

Love it all Joy! Especially 2/3. Where did you get that amazing belt? Also really like the leopard with red trousers -- and how you've bookended the shoes with the blouse.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

    Amazing as usual.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Thank you for your comments. I always learn from what you like and what isn't mentioned ;)
El Cee, the belt is from Nordstroms a couple of years ago. I liked it's ability to reign in the jiggly bits and bought both this black one and a straw colored one with a bronze buckle.

These are all fab, Joy! You certainly have your style down. I can't pick a fave but I especially love the red pants with the leopard top. Love how the moto toughens up the sweet skirt in 4 too. You never seem to have a bad fashion day!

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

Hi Joy, #2 is great. I thought it was a dress actually. I love the colours, the lace, the top for monochromatic (or sort of two-part mixed-media dress) look.

    Btw, soooooo many pretty outfits.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

These are all hits Joy - every single outfit. My personal fave is the last outfit. I adore the juxtaposition between the feminine full polka dot skirt and the moto - brilliant!

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous outfits Joy, you just looked fabulous every single day.
    I really like 1 :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

#2 is fantastic Joy - YLF.

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

Oh my gosh!  I can't pick a favorite because each and every one of these looks is just. that. fab.  :)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

#2 and #5 are my favorites but they are all terrific!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Ooh, I like that one @ 5. A fab week Joy.

  • DowntonAbbey replied 10 years ago

    Great outfits!
I especially  like #1 and #2/3.You had me at purple!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 10 years ago

Joy, it looks like you had a fantastic week for fashion.  I think every one is a knock-out.  I really like the red with the animal print and polka dots are lovely.  That lace VC skirt is a great fit and color for you too.

  • replied 10 years ago

    Great looks Joy!

  • Archer replied 10 years ago

Versatile chic that haircut it is though.  It works with all the outfits beautifully.  I thought #2/3 was a dress too and it looks fantastic - sandals combination with it, is perfect.
Love #5  and #1; look like the signature style of the same elegant woman in varying degrees of formality.  All Gorgeous.
Haircuts go everywhere too.  Hope you like the new one as much.  A

I think all iterations work beautifully Joy. The red pants length is fine and I like the cascading cardi very much. You also look very chic in the sheath dress and I love the moto outfit. You have some wonderful patterns and textures.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Neel, and Diane, thank you for your comments especially noting the pattern mixing and texture...things I'm not always sure are working.
Amy, your comment made me smile.
Kimberley, Suz, Shemarie, Ornella, Caro, Shevia, Archer,
BethAnn, and DowntonAbbey, all your love for various aspects of the VC skirt outfit are so helpful. I'd not thought of it as a two piece dress and like that idea. The shoes look different to me looking down at them so I'm glad they work here. I was trying to make the lace skirt more casual.
Debra, DowntonAbbey, and Archer, I'm glad that you liked #1. I'm pretty sure that Stephen Tyler has the same shirt.
ElCee, Kellygirl, and Diane, thank you for your comments on the red/leopard combo. It's a good thing that the DIY cardi is working ok. It was a closet orphan but great quality.
5-6 dots Shannon, Shevia, Lantana, Archer, and all those who mentioned #5/6, it's good that the outfit doesn't seem too sweet. I do want to try a boxy top with the skirt but am not sure it will work. Do you think a cropped chunky knit pullover would work with the silk fabric of the skirt?
Pil, MaryK, Dianthus, and Ceit, thank you for the boost of confidence!
Archer, I don't plan to get a new hairstyle, just take some off so that it isn't as long. I like high necks in cold weather and they seem to work best with a shorter bob. Thank you for noticing these details. I guess I looked at the photos and saw hair that looked longer than in the mirror. I love your insightful thoughts.
