More pattern mixing ETA: better lit photos

Today I followed Angie's ensemble more closely but, for the Valentine challenge used a floral top and striped jacket. The photos do not show the patterns very well.
1: the plaid jeans and floral top with bag made from silk ties for more pattern. 6/7 is a closer look at the bag.
2/3: I added a striped cotton jacket. 6/7 show that pattern and colors better.

    LOVE

    SUPER CUTE

Killer (although you need a little more light in that room - maybe switch on the lights?)

You are taking to Maximal like a duck to water, Joy.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Yes, I need more light. The lights are on but some of the bulbs had to be replaced recently. I miss incandescent. I added a few finds that I had. Maybe the scarf pattern is easier to see. Not too much pattern? I really piled them on.

Lovely pattern mix, very nice floral top. It is a pity cannot see well because of the light. Super cute maximal look.

I think this works. To my eye the jacket actually tones the outfit down rather than amping it up. You are our pioneer in maximalism :)

    Much better than yesterday's ;-)

    Really, this is awesome Joy!

Beautiful fabrics! Your colors really go well together.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Love it! I especially like that floral top on you.

  • cindysmith replied 7 years ago

I really like this. I'd say you've got the hang of it :-)

Mirjana, I need to work on light or get a new mirror. Thank you.
Brooklyn, that is interesting about the effect of the jacket but I agree after taking another look. There is lots of color but the stripes are narrow.
Thank you Aquamarine, Bonnie, Cynthia and Shevia. Shevia, I found the floral top when Angie did a post on winter florals. It is cut like a sweatshirt but of sheer fabric. It's super power is a banded waist.

Angie's right about duck to water. You really look alive in maximal, Joy. Huge energy there.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Thanks, Rachylou. I suspect that maximal could be my signature style. It is so much fun to look at my wardrobe this way. Kitchen-sink Style :)

Oh I really love this fit. It all just goes well together. That bag is the truth.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

Thanks for the better light. KILLER mix. You are on a roll, girlfriend.

Wow - so many colors and patterns and yet it all works together brilliantly! I covet that jacket!

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Thank you, Ledonna, Angie, and Ryce. Your comments encourage me. I wore the kitchen sink: bumblebee edition to church today and hope the pictures turned out. No one commented, so I'm curious as to what you will think.
Ryce, the jacket I'm wearing was an impulsive but from a little boutique in Kansas City a couple of years ago.

With the light it is even better.

I wore mine to churh. They are very conservative. I always get looks at church. Lol.

My most favorite people are our church parking lot staff. The men are not afraid to give a compliment. I parkfar away so I canget my walk on.

    You look great.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Ledonna, there was only one other woman at church that I saw wearing a skirt but people make an effort. The whole row in front of me was in red sweaters, men, women and children. Another woman had on a long red wool coat and matching red hat. Stunning. I guess people here acknowledge Valentines Week. I love your idea of parking far away. I'm sure that many give you envious looks even if they don't comment. You look fabulous!
