Light blue (or blush), White and Grey

Inspired by Angie's blog and what is left in my closet, here are some recent attempts at this ensemble, some more successful than others. It has been very hot and humid.
1-3: dove grey pants, light blue tunic, white shell and shoes. Cool enough with the third piece but a bit too much volume?
4/5: light blue crops, grey and white top, white denim vest. Best was too warm and came off quickly. Felt fab enough at home but not for going out.
6/7: worn to church. Grey and white striped dress, faded blue jacket, metallic shoe and white bag.
8/9: white clams, blue tank, white cardi and grey shoes and bag.
10/11: same grey and white striped dress with blush cardi and shoes, white bag. Worn out for lunch.
I know these need work and welcome your ideas and comments.

Those outfits are very nice but I am not sure about the first one, how to match the outer layer with the shape of the pants. They are both very nice but I am not sure they go together.

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

You look beautiful in these soft colors, Joy!  All the outfits are lovely, and I especially like both versions of the dress, it is very flattering on you.  The only one where the proportions bug me a little is the first one, I think that a tunic/dress over pants requires unrolled pants, whether cropped or full length.  The rolled hems so close to the tunic hem create a bit of a visual clutter for me.

  • Maneera replied 7 years ago

    Nice bunch, Joy. Love #5, 6 & 8!

  • replied 7 years ago

Joy -- I was excited to see you do light blue, grey, and white.  All are stellar, but my favorite is number 1-3.  It speaks to me.

Hmmm.  I just saw Joyce's and Tanya's comment about number 1-3.  I still like it the best.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Joyce and Tanya, thank you for your thoughts on that first outfit and why it was not working. I will try the blue dress/tunic with full length pants before giving up on it.
Maneera, thank you. I was not thinking that the proportions were working on 5.

6&7 are my favorites, so pretty; you look great!

Love the striped dress on you - especially in 6 and 7.  I like the idea of outfit 1, and I might swap out the pants for either leggings (could be cropped , or reg length) or white jeans .

  • Staysfit replied 7 years ago

I totally love the first outfit!  I guess I have a different aesthetic but I think it looks great together and I like the proportions too!

  • crazyone replied 7 years ago

Personally I love outfit #1! I think the proportions look very current and trendy. I also especially like the striped dress outfits, though that's more of a classic look.

  • RobinF replied 7 years ago

My favorite is the dress with the jean jacket, very chic. I also like the second look and the clamdiggers. Not a fan usually but this is an example of when they work. I think I'd like #1 better if the pants were not rolled up.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

That striped dress in #6 is fabulous with the denim jacket. Try it with lighter shoes.

I like the proportions in #1, actually. You hip little creature.

  • AJ replied 7 years ago

    My favorite is 6/7.

I always enjoy the creative ways you can come up with an outfit inspired by Angie's ensemble posts.

  • Bonnie replied 7 years ago

My favorite is #1 because it looks like something I'd wear.

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

Love the striped dress and denim jacket and I am taking notes on #1. I am not sure I'm in love with it...yet I want to try something similar. I feel like it is *almost* right and maybe the only tweak needed is footwear. Did you try with different shoes in your closet? I suspect that might be the issue to my eye.

  • Brin replied 7 years ago

My favourites are 8/9 and 10.  Not sure I can say why, but they satisfy my eye (apparently I am writing poetry to them...?)  I think the clamdiggers look like my kind of hip, and I like the length and colour of the blush cardigan over the dress.  Would love a closeup of your necklace.  I think it really added to the overall proportion of the outfits.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Suz, it might be the footwear. Mr Type A has been nagging me to get everything packed for a move that isn't happening until August and much of my wardrobe, including summer things are sealed in boxes, including summer footwear and clothing. Much of what is left is older stuff that may have its last hurrah before it is tossed or donated. I will see if I have some better choices of footwear.
Bonnie, you will have to give me some tips on wearing dresses and tunics over pants. I want to be able to wear the look but can't seem to get it right.
AJ, Angie gives us so much inspiration, doesn't she?
Angie, I thought that those shoes would look lighter. I have some ideas including the dove grey sandal wedges in 8/9 and white sneakers. Thank you for commenting, especially on #1.

Thank you all for your helpful comments. I will be back later to address them.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Beautiful colors on you. The striped dress is a standout! #8/9 is my other favorite.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Brin, I will try to remember to get a close up of the necklace. It seems to be just right for many outfits and is a lariat style rather thick silver-tone cord-like chain with tassel ends and tied in a knot which serves as a pendant.
Sterling, Olga, Lisa, Staysfit, Crazyone and Robin, your comments, suggestions, and preferences are so helpful. Thank you.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Shevia, I just saw your post. Thank you. The dress is an old favorite that is always fun to wear and I felt good wearing 8/9 too.

  • Caro in Oz replied 7 years ago

I really like the promotions of the first outfit & would love to see it with different shoes. Love the stripe dress too.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Thank you, Caro.  I have been stalking a similar button front dress/duster to the one in the first outfit, but don't want to buy it without figuring out how I can wear this look.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

It's fun to see different opinions here. I am less fond of the layers in 1 and think all of the others are hands-down winners, Joy. 4-5 is just smashing--I love the crisp, cool colors together. And your dresses with flats and pumps are so pretty and polished.
I think I'd just want to see the long sleeveless shirt over a slimmer pant in the first outfit.

  • Sal replied 7 years ago

You look stunning in these pale colours.  They look modern and original.
I love 8-9 - just a lovely outfit from head to toe.  The dress is great and I think it would look great with white shoes too.

  • Quietgirl replied 7 years ago

    Very polished!

  • skylurker replied 7 years ago

The proportions of #1 bother me, I'd like slimmer, longer pants with self toned shoes and the dress closed, with no top underneath, maybe ? I'm unsure because I think my eyes have not adjusted to this look, in general.

The white bemudas and the dress are very flattering.

I like the clutch better than the crossbody bag, because it's a cleaner look (no strap to mess with the necklace).

  • Thirkellgirl replied 7 years ago

I think you look just great. I admire your confidence in wearing #1, because it looks wonderful but I'd hesitate. I like the striped dress with the pale jacket the most. *I would wear lighter-colored shoes. You've got a really great figure!

  • Mirjana replied 7 years ago

    Love the striped dress

, the best #6and #11, and also #4, you look realy great in all outfits.

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

You do soft colors with such sophistication.  Angie's ensemble was made for you!  I've very fond of the arty first outfit, and of the dress -- fabulous hem!

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

    Kicky! All very energized.

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

Your color schemes are just so so fab.

  • Cassie Lyons replied 7 years ago

Love the outfits!  They are adorable, love the white vest and polka dot shirt the most.
