Leapday Consignment Finds

On Leap Day I went to a couple of consignment shops and refreshed my wardrobe with a pale blue BR Italian wool sweater, some Prana olive joggers ( both being worn in #4/5,7). and some much needed bags (small crossbody) to carry my glucose meter and co-ordinating lager bags to use with them. The brown and rust pair in photos 1/2 are fabric and made by a local crafts person. The orange in #3 are both Michael Kors. I have several orange pieces. Photo #6 is my set of olive bags worn in 4/5,7. The joggers and sweater are oversized but do they look too big? Fit is difficult with the meter on my belly that can’t be pushed or bumped, but I welcome your opinions. I am wearing this outfit today in several inches of new snow. It is cold.

YLF, Joy.  The outfit doesn't look oversized to me, just slouchy cool.  The olive bag set looks great, love the sling style bag.

Great finds.  I'm with Teresa, doesn't look oversized in that stiff, husky way, just relaxed.

Thank you, Teresa and Vildy. I tried on a whole pile of rejects. Some stretchy waists can look like bloomers. Some fabrics are too clingy. If these olive joggers that do not show up well get a general thumbs up, I think they can be worn year round by rolling the cuffs to a more cropped look. In the cold they can be worn with silk underwear or even fleece lined tights plus woolly socks and boots.

I agree, these look great!! A fluid and polished fit. Love the double bags—especially the printed ones. YLF!

Outfit looks good, but it is your clever double bagging that takes the prize!  Way to turn a wardrobe necessity into a fashion statement!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you, Kellygirl. Those little printed bags have 3 sections that can hold meter, glucose tablets, and my phone.
I like the slightly larger small bags if I can also add car keys and a small billfold. The larger bag is needed for comb, tissue packet, sunglasses, and protein bars; sometimes a larger wallet with store credit cards, coupons, and insurance cards.

Thank you, Runcarla. I am so happy that double bags are trendy.

The joggers look good. Can’t tell about the sweater, the way you’re posed. Love
    the coordinated bags. Cute idea!

Great finds, you are lucky that you find so nice small and big bag in the same color. The outfit is wonderful as usual, the blue sweater is not big, I like it very much. You inspired me for color combo, light blue and olive, super.

I love the joggers and the bags look very well pulled together. I like the grill around the wrist of the grey jumper.

  • Sal replied 4 years ago

I think you look great - very creative given the limitations you are working with.  You are a very stylish woman:)  And fashion forward in the double bagging area.

  • Lucy replied 4 years ago

I think you look amazing! Love the creativity of the double bags - such a stylish way to make the necessary changes. The joggers look cool to me. YLF!

I agree with everyone, great finds. Those bags are visually  interesting to look at rather than just functional and the frilled sleeve of that jumper is pretty.

I am wowed, you look fantastic and the new double bags are fantastic additions. I am so impressed that you have managed to come up with such stylish solutions to deal with your issues with wearing a glucose meter. Now I want some cute double act bags - they look intentional and fashion forward.

How incredibly clever (and super stylish) to have two coordinating bags!  Your outfit looks great and reads comfortable, and oversized without being sloppy. Well done!

You look casual cool chic in the outfits! And the paten mix double bags are so stylish! We got 6-9 inches of badly needed fresh snow over the weekend. Today will be in the mid fifties and its coming your way. Stay warm and cozy til then!

Double bags look so urban chic! I like how they are coordinating, but not from the exact same materials. Adds a lot of visual interest/texture to the outfit. I don't think the outfit looks too big, and I particularly like the joggers on you.

    Love the double bag

I used to have the olive cris body bag in my collection it served me well for years. Got it at a thrift store

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you all for helping me to feel good about this outfit. It was comfortable. The double bag has become a necessity. I will probably be pulling some waistbags (“bum bags”). Into service as cross bodies as I can’t wear them on the waist.
Ledonna, the olive bag was a gift from DS2 when my back went out a few years ago. They are very comfortable and hold a lot for their size. The little olive print bag was also a gift for carrying my iPhone in the classroom.
Karen, I will an eye.out for for that snow. It is sure to come as DH washed the cars today in most places our ground is still frozen.

Great reminder to make use of my new favorite consignment shop!

You're doing great with your new accommodative outfits, Joy.

  • cindysmith replied 4 years ago

Love how these bags complement each other so perfectly!

  • Janet replied 4 years ago

Your bag solutions are so clever and look great! Love the slouchy pants on you — they look easy, not bulky, so no worries about the size.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Thank you for the double bag acceptance and Janet for the jogger thumbs up. I may be the jogger queen by the end of the summer. Angie posted so many tempting ones. I hope to actually get to a store to try some on. I find it hard to predict fit on-line unless I have the exact same piece and even then colors may vary.t

YOU CLEVER AND EXTRA FABULOUS LADY :)

What a GREAT solution Joy, and I'm so proud of you!

  • Jenn replied 4 years ago

Those bags in 1 and 2 are super-gorgeous! What a great solution to buy in pairs to meet your needs.

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Angie, you always make me feel good. Jenn, that is high praise coming from such a stylish woman. You always inspire me to buy less and better quality and wear what I have.

  • Zaeobi replied 4 years ago

Your double bags look great - makes me feel better about buying coordinating ones in burgundy. Was worried they'd look too matchy matchy but yours look chic!

Just a tip - I actually convert my crossbody bags to waist bags by threading them through belt loops sometimes. You may need to experiment with strap width & adjust the length, but it's something to consider while you're on the hunt for waistband bags.
