Latest Festive Challenge Outfits ETA: more outfits in Comments

Since I linked to Angie’s blog post on choosing a sweater dress, I thought i’d start with one, a red EF dress worn to a Christmas play and to church (1-4). It is too short to be ideal but a soft merino wool that is warm and comfortable. I also do not have the best toppers for it. The white ( bone) knit jacket is also EF and to church it was colder so I wore my white puffer. I welcome your thoughts.
(5-8): a casual outfit with bootcut blue jeans, suede loafers, gold metallic stripe top under a gold metallic brocade jacket. Worn with sparkly snowflake earrings to up the festivity. Does this work?
(9-10): another very casual outfit with a Snoopy graphic tee, Paige jeans and red loafers. Is this too young for my age?
(11-15): Red sparkly sequined sweater with matching scarf and white jeans worn with statement Our Lady of Guatalupe on her feast day and to an Advent celebration. I used my red ks bag. Does this look ok? The socks were the star so maybe they were too much
I will be back to add more after editing photos.

Joy, you have such an incredible closet! I love the red dress on you -- especially in the first photo. I see what you mean about toppers -- always a frustrating exercise. I think this dress would be great over crops or slim jeans.

I like how you have combined gold/taupe with silver and grey in the second outfit. Very soothing yet unusual and, yes, festive. Great bling!!

Snoopy and the slippers are fun!! Cozy casual.

Here are a few more of last weeks outfits. I wore Snoopy again but with a black leather jacket and black booties but did not get a photo.
(#1-5): a rather neutral outfit with black pencil skirt, black and light and dark grey color block long sleeved tee under a poncho on the same color block colors. Silvery grey bead necklace. Too dull?
(#6-9) worn to two Christmas meetings and meals; a wool beaded skirt, mult-colored sparkly thin scarf in same colors of the beads in the skirt. I wore this with just the black sweater top first and later added a black faux fur vest, too much? I welcome your thoughts and suggestions for all outfits in this post.

Thank you, Suz. I am so glad that the red dress and Snoopy are ok to wear. I will try to find slim jeans or something to wear under the dress. Angie is right. It is so hard to find a good sweater dress this year.

Joy I think with this lot you officially become my fashion icon! I loved your outfits before but this tops it off! They're all stunning. I love the socks- can't believe you found some to actually match a feast day.
You nearly make me wish I were Catholic! ( very Protestant Presbyterian mother rolling in her grave right now :) )

Set 2 are very chic... but I don’t know that it’s not Our Lady and Snoopy for the win. I mean, c’mon! :D

  • kellygirl replied 5 years ago

Love the red dress in 1 especially and the grey and black poncho. You have some great pieces and always look so put together! Love these festive outfits. You are motivating me!

  • karen13 replied 5 years ago

Joy! You always look amazing, and this set is just that much more so. I adore all ov these looks. Snoopy is never wrong. If I reach the century mark iwillwear Snoopy and be the envy of all.

My favorite is the second outfit with th3 snowflake earrings. It is just the perfect casual look. And when you tire of the earrings (never!) please send them to me.

I also love the black and grey. So graphic. And I’m taking note of the way you combine the wrap and necklace.

  • Sal replied 5 years ago

These are all great but my favourites are the snoopy tee look (9 in first post) and both on the second post.

Enjoy wearing Snoopy - so much fun!

I love the silver wrap on you and the  beaded skirt.  It is lovely and I like both stylings a lot.

Wow, love your cheery red holiday outfits, the use of white pants, and the socks, are all very festive and spot on! I am just planning to buy a sweater in that shade for myself, as never had one! I will add, I especially loved how you did nr 5-6, that is not a usual festive color combo but it is gorgeous, too! YLF in all, Joy, brava!!!

  • replied 5 years ago

I love that beaded skirt especially! Reminds me of Christmas lights :) And the metallic jacket too. The socks i thought were tie dyed at first!

  • catherine replied 5 years ago

So good. You are excellent at outfit creation.

  • Christina F. replied 5 years ago

You look great in red! It's hard to pick, but I like the first outfit a lot.

Wow! Never seen sock with Our Lady on them before!

  • cjh replied 5 years ago

Very nice all around. Snoopy Christmas is perfect for you and the season. I also like the gold glittery stripes top outfit and the gray stone bead necklace outfit very much. Great festive week.

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

Your outfits make me smile, Joy. You are ADORABLE and a honey-pie. Full stop.

I like the sweater dress without a topper. Can you wear it that way? Fabulous with the scarf.

    Snoopy - CUTE.

    Socks - CUTE.

And white jeans in Winter - thumbs up.

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

Your sweater dress looks really great on you. The brocade jacket outfit is really nice too. My fav, though, is the grey poncho and bead necklace. It’s subtle but lux looking.

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

OH. I just saw the grey and black outfits in the post. Both fabulous too.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

What lovely comments to wake up to. Jenni, my son found those socks in Tokyo along with a similar pair of the Sacred heart of Jesus. Karen, if I tire of the snowflake earrings I will send them to you. I keep them mostly for seasonal wear and sometimes when I have to be running errands in a snow fall. I think I found these at Macy's several years ago.
The wool beaded skirt, sweater worn with it, Snoopy tee, gold brocade jacket, striped top worn under it, big grey stone beads and probably more were all second hand from thrifting or consignment.
Angie, you are so sweet. I usually do wear the sweater dress without a topper. It is a watermelon shade, which reminds me of you.
JAlieen, that poncho was a wild card purchase from the Rack that I have enjoyed. It completes many an outfit.

  • shiny replied 5 years ago

Those socks! Oh how I love them.

  • Cardiff girl replied 5 years ago

What fun!Love the red with the white jacket and the jeans outfit is really flattering in its proportions and who could beat Snoopy for festive cheer.Good job all round.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you, shiny and Cardiff girl. I wore the white jeans with white loafers so the socks would show. I love this Snoopy tea and hope it never wears out but should start the search for a replacement. Uniqlo has often has Peanuts themed tees. I am glad no one wondered what I was drinking that I was wearing Snoopy and over 70.

You look great!  The t-shirt is definitely not too young for you.  I can't believe I've never seen Our Lady of Guadalupe socks before.  She is VERY popular in NM - I can't tell you how many Our Lady of Guadalupe tattoos I've seen.  On our recent trip to Mexico City we went to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe which houses the cloak containing her image.

  • cindysmith replied 5 years ago

Snoopy is never too young for anybody, so you keep on wearing that awesome snoopy shirt!
I am trying to picture how big your closet must be, because you come up with so many great combinations! :-)

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

Agree with cindysmith about Snoopy. I just checked and he was born in 1950! Love the grey outfit you posted about too.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Cindy and Shevia, I am older than Snoopy! I was probably able to read that cartoon when it came out. I am very glad that I can still wear the shirt and not look ridiculous.
Sara, I would love to see that basilica. Did you feel safe in Mexico City? A friend's husband makes regular trips their and she wants to go along but he can't even leave his hotel for breakfast without an armed guard.

  • Katerina replied 5 years ago

Joy, what two amazing sets of outfits, what a treat! They are all beautiful, interesting, chic and look so wonderful on you. I especially admire no 3-4 and 5-8 in the first set and 6-7 in the second set. The white knit jacket looks fantastic with the sweater dress and the shoes are just perfect with this combo. I love the brocade jacket, especially with the metallic striped top. The jeans and suede shoes make this outfit really chic. The wool beaded skirt is gorgeous and what a perfect scarf to go with it.
It is so much fun to see so fabulous pieces from second hand shops in action in gorgeous modern outfits.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you, Katerina. Your comments are especially welcomed because you have a style that I admire. The scarf with the beaded skirt was a gift from a dear friend. She probably thought of that skirt when she saw the scarf. I have had that skirt for about 5 years and it has become my go-to piece for many festive occasions.

  • Mirjana replied 5 years ago

Great outfits, very interesting and festive. All are gorgeous on you. I especially love no 1 sweater dress with boots and scarf, lovely color and very chic. The next is white jeans in winter, always for white jeans.
I also love your outfit with poncho, adorable on you Joy. BRAVO.

  • Mainelady replied 5 years ago

Joy! Each of your outfits bring me joy, simply by viewing them. You really know how to put your pieces together and yes, YLF! Where do I begin? Your red sweater dress.........perfect color and you wear it so well. Snoopy and Our Lady....fun, festive and winners. Your poncho is incredibly elegant.....love the power of colorblocking. Your wool beaded skirt! Oh my gosh! What a beautiful piece of clothing! Stunning, really. Thank you for sharing your pics. You inspire me to step up my holiday festive game.

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

What a fab set of outfits, Joy.  Funny, you often say you have a small wardrobe, yet one would never even think that, with the way you mix and match and create.  Quite a talent.

I love the red dress.  I say just wear it w/o a topper.  I have a very similar dress in navy, and don't wear a topper with it either, the shapes just don't jive.  My dress looks great with skinny jeans under (one of the very few dresses I'd consider wearing this way, it's not my thing) so I bet yours would too, if you want a different look for it.

  • texstyle replied 5 years ago

I esp. love the red dress and the black outfit in your later comments. Very festive all around and you look great in all of them!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you all for your comments and opinions. It may seem to me like I have a small closet because I capsule-ise for various seasons or parts of a season. Right now anything festive or colorful for winter is out front and center. Right after New Years I don't feel like bling or color and go mostly neutrals, maybe adding one color until cold spring when light colors and neutrals rule.
