K/R: Statement chunky blush pullover

In my quest to amp up my casual style with some color, I fell for this chunky blush pink pullover. It is a cozy non-itchy blend of acrylic and wool which is a good weight, not too hot, not slushy. The photos don't show it, but it is slightly longer in back. The color is probably most accurate in photo 2.
I love the color but need your opinion about fit. Is this too overwhelming or nicely slouchy? It was very inexpensive so I'm looking for a one or two season life, not an investment piece. Be blunt. Keep or keep looking?

I like the amount of slouch, not too big at all. I vote keep!

  • Jem replied 9 years ago

    I vote Keep.  :-)

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Perfect slouch in my book! I love it on you, Joy. The color is gorgeous too!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 9 years ago

Yes, great slouch... I vote keep...

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you, Mala, Jem, Tracey and Kelly. You tempt me to cut the tags and wear, but I'll resist a bit longer.

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

I love the style and the fit, you look divine Joy. I hope you keep it.

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

Beautiful color and length on you. My only tiny hesitation is about how loose-fitting the sleeves are, especially at the wrist. Thinking about it, I realize I may have a bit of a poison eye for that type of sweater sleeve, so please take my observation for what it's worth. :) Thinking about it further, I may have that poison eye because I personally need my sweaters to keep me WARM, and I know those looser-fitting sleeves aren't going to achieve that as well as a different sleeve style. However, I think you live in a milder climate than I. If the sleeves were tighter, I'd vote 125% yes.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Windchime, the wide sleeves are something I wondered about too, not for warmth as for the look. This sweater will keep me warm enough and will be easy to layer under if needed. I wondered if these sleeves would get in the way. I think that the length keeps them out of the way of my hands, but do they look frumpy?
Ornella, thank you for looking and commenting. These sweaters keep us guessing.

I think it looks really nice on you... my only comment would be about the sleeves.  I get driven slightly nuts by ones I can't push up.  But that's me... you know you. :)

  • Zibbets replied 9 years ago

I vote keep. Slouch is perfect and the color is great on you. I adore that color and can't wear it because it washes me out.

  • cjh replied 9 years ago

The body fit, cowl neck, texture and color are great! Sleeves are pretty floppy and open for my need/tastes, but if that doesn't bother you, it is a lovely color and very soft and pretty. If it does bother, perhaps you can solve that by layering a slim fitting long sleeve top underneath. You may just have to wear around the house a bit to see if you like the sleeves.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I'm listening and going to put it on to wear around the house, as cjh suggests. I'm doing laundry, so that may be the ultimate test. Thank you for your comments and suggestions. Overall, you don't think the volume is too much? The silhouette too messy?

  • Peri replied 9 years ago

It's funny the sleeves are being questioned cause pic #5 is when I decided I loved it! I hadn't noticed the sleeves til then but I love that detail and i think they balance the big cowl neck. You are so tiny, I don't think that detail adds any bulk at all, just some artiness that I love!

  • Inge replied 9 years ago

The fit is exactly right, Joy, and that light blush is a gorgeous colour on you. Loving the sound of the non-itchy, cosy material. I also adore the big collar and the fact that is has pockets. The wide sleeves are a little kimono-esque (which I like too), not frumpy in my book, and not overwhelmingly wide.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

    It's lovely, pls. keep!:-)

  • carter replied 9 years ago

Forget laundry. Try cooking or washing dishes in it. If that doesn't drive you nuts, it's a keeper!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

    LOL. Good idea, Carter.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I have an issue with this type of sleeve, which has been mentioned - it is always flapping around and getitng on my nerves.  I love the color and slouchy factor though.  Sounds like you are testing things out so keep us posted!

  • crutcher replied 9 years ago

Stop resisting...if that little sweetie doesn't belong to you, I'll relinquish my YLF membership...YOur hair is just made for that color and with the jeans and boots, you look ah..maz..ing...I would stop questioning and start clipping tags...Maybe you could take a quick run through the mall and give all the shoppers someone to look at...Seriously,that is a keeper...

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

    I like the fit.
I don't think the sleeves look bad--in fact they overlap a bit with poncho. They would just bother me due to flop. I like your idea of wearing and seeing if it's a function problem; if not, the look is good.

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

The color and weight/texture look great but I agree with Una on the sleeves. If that doesn't bother you (under a jacket too) then it's a keep!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Textile, I forgot about under a jacket! My puffer can handle quite a bit of volume so it may be ok.

  • replied 9 years ago

I love it on you Joy. So long as it fits under your puffer, you must keep it!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

It's gorgeous on you, Joy! I absolutely love it. And would snap it up in a heartbeat.

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

It definitely works on you Joy!  Love that color - and the slouchy fit is perfect!

  • replied 9 years ago

I love that color on you, and I think it's the perfect fit and amount of volume for your frame!

  • lady replied 9 years ago

This looks great. It's nicely oversized without looking sloppy. I adore the sleeves. I'm surprised so many others don't. I love sleeves like that bc I like the movement. I like the swish factor. I see I'm in the minority. Ah well.

I hope chores went ok and you'll keep it. It looks awesome.

  • kerry replied 9 years ago

    Love it!!

  • Lucy replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous! The color is fab on you and I like the relaxed and slouchy vibe. Keeper...

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I think it's a keeper :). After doing hand wash, chopping food, trying it under the puffer and lots of bending and reaching, the sleeves were just short enough to stay out of the way. They also helped keep me from getting overheated while working yet I stayed cozy just sitting on a cold day. I love the pocket feature. I also found that I have a waffle knit long sleeved tee in a pink close enough to blend that could be layered underneath this sweater. I think that it will be a good addition to my cold weather capsule that can take me into late winter/early spring, which is something I needed.
Thank you each for your comments and ideas and questions to consider. All have been so helpful.
For those that may be interested, the sweater is from SteinMart and comes in other colors too. With a coupon, it was less than $30.

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

Yay! It looks wonderful on you, and has clearly passed the practicality test with flying colors! You'll enjoy this lighter color during the dark days of winter.

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

Love this on you. Glad you are keeping.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

    Fantastic on you!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Windchime, that's a good point about this color brightening the dark days.
Debbie and Shevia, thank you. I'm glad that you like it on me. You are both so stylish.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

I think the sweater is a lovely color on you and not big at all. My concern would be the sleeves too .. But WTH .. Not every sweater has to be practical ;). If you are in peace with it ... Keep!

  • Jjsloane replied 9 years ago

I'm glad you love it, I think it looks beautiful on you. I might be popping over to Steinmart in search of same. Another store I always forget about. Wear it well.

  • Tania replied 9 years ago

I think it looks fab on you, Joy. Not at all overwhelming!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Without reading through the replies, I just want to jump in and say I LOVE it on you. For sure keep.
