Super fun! And they blend seamlessly into your wardrobe. Fit looks spot on to me. Have they passed the comfort test?
Do you need a holiday piece? Will you wear them outside of the holidays?
-
Joy replied 10 years ago
Great questions, Thistle. I do need some casual holiday looks and think I can wear these on warmer or very cold days with different tops. In the past I concentrated on dressy tops with regular jeans, so this is different and less dressy. Is the overall look too dark for me?
I think I would wear these any time, not just during the holidays, unless I am sick of them by January.
They are very stretchy and comfortable, although a belt is needed to keep them up.

You MUST keep these! They look great on you! I like them best with the t-shirt #1 - and the long tunic type of sweater #3. The chunky short sweater #2 looks too fitted to me. I like them with the tall boots and with the short boots and cuffed - don't like them as well when they are un-cuffed. I would wear these jeans more than just through the holidays for sure! I can't really tell from the pics about the fit of the tall boots - so can't give you my opinion on them! But, those jeans??? YES!

Ooh, those are fab! I want them myself!! Definitely keep and wear. They are terrific in 1 and 4. Love them on you--so festive and fun.

Tall boots look great, as do the jeans. I prefer them with the top in 1 or 4. The berry sweater reads as patterned and is making the outfit sort of busy when combined with the plaid pants.
I think I like the pants better unrolled.
-
Joy replied 10 years ago
Thank you for helping me see these outfits through your eyes. Denise, I didn't think about the chunky knit looking like a pattern. Good point.
The boots will eventually get their own K/R as they seem comfortable enough. They are fromNAS but I've not had a chance to work with them until now when I could be wearing them.
I plan to venture out in the plaid jeans with tee and cardi in case it is cold in the meeting room. I may wear it open for a less fitted look. Short boots until I decide on the tall ones. Please keep your thoughts and ideas coming.

I love the tall boots..Definitely look great on you with the pants...Keep working with them..you will find the specialness there...I have a pair that I have been on the fence with and finally after wearing them several times and forcing myself to listen to other's compliments..smile..I decided that I, too, like them alot...

I like them on you! Fun pants. They look best in #1 and #4 to me. The tall boots look fab, too, and I know those have been a HEWI for you.
-
unfrumped replied 10 years ago
I think they look good! I also think the cabled/zip sweater is too "busy" but if you have something else in that color it would be great. I have a small preference for unrolled, too, just because the hem color competes with the pattern a bit. The tall boots are fabuloso with them.
How would they look with gray or another neutral to tone them down? Otherwise navy does that pretty well. What about a denim or chambray shirt? Denim is the great neutralizer. Thinking of how to use them in more ways.

Karie replied 10 years ago
Oh, these are a definite keep! I love #1 - bright and fun!

Joy replied 10 years ago
Thank you for your comments and ideas. They are so helpful.
Unfrumped, I like your ideas with denim and grey and have tops/toppers in both colors to try. I don't have more dark red tops. It is a color that used to be a favorite, picking up tones in my auburn brown hair. Now with silvery hair, the dark reds do nothing for me, but bright red might blend with the colors in the pants well enough. Something to try.
Suz and Crutcher, I hope these tall boots are keepers as they are a rare find...flat and seem to fit both my big feet and skinny calves. I think the ankles fit pretty well too. Boots have definitely been a HEWI for years.
Crutcher, I need more of your attitude.

Fun! I love them on you. I do like #1 and 4 the best but I think I am reacting to color as much as shape or proportion. I like seeing the blue as base and pink as accent. When they are paired with pink and the blue works as the accent, it is harder to see the blue and I feel over-pinked!
-
Joy replied 10 years ago
Peri, that makes sense. I was confused because both the red and the navy sweaters are chunky knits but only the red seems busy. It's probably partly due to the color.

Jaime replied 10 years ago
They really do look great on you. I also like them with the tall boots and full length as in #4.

Wow, I love them in all their versions! Great find, pls keep!:-)

Nice fit and great to have patterned pants. Like the blue sweater best as I prefer the length and it feels quite "zippy" to have the zippered short red sweater with pant zippers. Perhaps try red sweater with a longer button down revealed underneath it.
The boots look lovely and sleek. Look forward to seeing them more.
Fun find!

Really like these! Especially with the navy tee and sweater. Also like the sound of a chambray shirt with them.

These would be a fun addition to your closet, Joy!!! Keep :)

Adding to my comment...This morning when I went out..it was just really cold,...I wore my tall boots and was warm as toast on the legs...I don't know if this is a consideration but let me tell you, these are warm...leather boots...Hope you decide to love them...

Joy, you look so good in skinnies, and these are no exception. I like the plaid on you--these are a fun, updated twist on classic plaid pants! I like the first outfit and the longer blue sweater. I also liked the idea of the red sweater, but would prefer a plainer style without the zip--the silhouette looks fine to me. I like the jeans tucked into the tall boots and rolled above the shorter boots. I'm not crazy about the pant legs worn out over the short boots.

Joy replied 10 years ago
Thank you for giving me the confidence to wear jeans that are out of my comfort zone but something that I would like to try for a casual holiday look and beyond. It looks like not everyone thinks the jeans work on me as there is a "nay". I wonder if they think I'm too old for plaid jeans or if there is something off with the fit or styling. It sounds like most like my blue tops best and I can also try ivory, grey, and denim/chambray.
Crutcher, you have reminded me why I wanted tall boots in the first place,to try to look stylish while keeping my legs and feet warm. I am falling for these boots and can adjust them for bare legs or tights and for tucked jeans.

Gorgeous! I vote keep!
I agree w/ Cocolion that the blue tops are better than the berry. You could try layering a white collared shirt or tee underneath. A hint of white might be just the ticket to make it feel more you.
-
Joy replied 10 years ago
Zibbets, that is a great idea! Thank you!

Joy, please KEEP, and what I notice here is how different the plaid color is "influenced" by the top color you are wearing. These are great and I love plaid and have a few in my closet (some tartans and the Kut muted plaid) and they're always so much fun to wear.

Fabulous and how diverse they are, surprisingly (or not given your cleverness).
