K/R: Eileen Fisher cobalt top

Another Clearance Rack find. I have been wanting to add some cobalt to my wardrobe. This is a breezy linen front, silk back top with some of the silk showing in front at the top. It was 92% off making it less than $15, so I am leaning toward keeping unless you think it is a mistake.
It is not styled here but I have plenty of summer black, white, taupe and denim slim bottoms plus it matched a Halogen pencil skirt that I have. On the minus side, does it look too boxy? Too long for a boxy top? I would love your thoughts before I commit to it.
Also, the back silk is semi sheer. On a hot day could I get by just wearing a blue or nude bra under it? I do have an EF silk tank in blue that could be worn under it.
Edited to add photos to show fabric.

I really like this. To advise about the sheer back, I would need to see a photo. I would probably be more comfortable myself if I wore a cami under a sheer backed top.

Keep!  The sheer back is an issue but I think a blue bra would be very cool if you are up for it.

I like cobalt too!  Looks great with the windowpane pants.

Does #5 show some sheerness in front?  Silk tank in blue would be a good choice if you can stand an additional layer in the summer.

Cjh, I will have to experiment and take photos of the back.
Una, I have cobalt bra and undies.
AJ, I suspect what you see in 5 is not the silk part. I will try to get a photo or 2 of that part. I think the silk fabric in summer will be cool enough.
    Thank you all for commenting.

I added close up photos of the fabric to the post.

Amy, drive down to the Kansas side of the KC area and I will take you to Nordstrom Rack. Every so often there is a percentage off clearance. It is hit or miss though. Do you have Von Maur? They have some great sales and carry many brands that Nordies does.

Cobalt blue is such a great color...Your hair is set off with the contrast..I can see you wearing this one throughout the summer...Great find...

    You will definitely rock this.

    Sorry to be a spanner.

I'm not sure, Joy. I really like the colour, but I'm not convinced about the fit. A little neither here nor there. Not quite asymmetrical. Not quite the right diagonal sleeve shape, and the armholes hang quite long. Could be fine semi-tucked, but that does restrict the way you wear it.

  • Thistle replied 8 years ago

Love the color!!  But, this is the issue with some EF pieces, imo. I am not sold on the asymmetrical fit. I think it needs to be more pronounced.

  • Nebraskim replied 8 years ago

I love the color. I'm not a fan of assymetrical on me, so my eye may be poisoned. But the color is so beautiful with your hair and skin tone. And Joy, yes, we do have Von Maur. I love that place.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you for your thoughts. i think I'll play with the semi tuck and see if it can be given some structure or on to the next thing. I have 90 days from purchase to decide.

I Like this tee. The color is very nice on you. A cobalt bra sounds like it would look cool with the sheer back.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

After reading Angie's post today, I wonder if alterations could save this piece. If shortened or hem made more assymetrical ( if possible), could it work?

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

Love the colour, not in love with the neckline... It kinda looks like scrubs to me...

I have this exact top and love it and wear it frequently in hot weather.  It *is* a bit boxy, but I like my clothes that way, to drape over all the boobage.  If you like things a bit more tailored, can you find it in a smaller size?  What's the weather like where you are?  If you have really hot days, it is the perfect thing - drapey and breezy and very light.  I just wear either a nude or cobalt bra with it and don't worry about a cami.

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

I was thinking it looked a little big, but hey, $15 for an EF top! I'd keep it:) such a pretty versatile color.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Museum gal, thank you for commenting. This is the XS. The weather here is super hot and humid about half the sunmmer, oven dry blasts of hot wind the second half. I could use the breeziness. Problem: no boobage to fill it out which is probably why it hangs there shapeless.
Carole, I admit that I have strong sale goggles for this piece. It was an extra 25% off that. I have about $200 for alterations at Nordstroms this year that has not been used.

  • dakotacheryl replied 8 years ago

I like it...but probably 2/3 of my wardrobe is EF...so I am definitely biased.

  • Ledonna N. replied 8 years ago

To my eye it is boxy the color is great very vibrant. If you could take it in a bit or just make the boxiness work then great otherwise I would return.
