Kimono duster

Inspired by Angie’s blog post and nice weather, I decided to wear my real kimono as a duster. Usually I feel it has too much volume for me. What do you think? Other styling ideas?
Somewhere I have a self belt for it but that looks more bathrobe-like.
I hope tomorrow to try my denim duster, which you have seen before.

I like your kimono Joy.  Does not appear to have too much volume.  Also like your denim duster.  Enjoy them!

The self belt on the kimono could really skew bathrobe. I think they work, in part due to your put together look and sharp accessories. Makes it look intentional. I like.

Thank you, bridge and delurked. The kimono duster is a good look for my summer climate and lifestyle, so I hope to be able to wear it well. If the style looks good, I plan to get a better quality denim duster.

Joy I love how you have styled the red kimono and agree that with a tied belt it could look like a robe. The softness of the fabric keeps it from looking too overwhelming on you.

Joy, you've got this look down. I like the kimono the way you're wearing it! I would shy away from the self-belt, too, to avoid the robe look. It may be quite a bit of volume, but it doesn't look overwhelming to me. Very chic!
Your denim duster is cool-looking, too. I like the mules with this outfit. I think they could work nicely as another option with the kimono outfit, too.

Bijou and Firecracker, thank you for your comments and support.
Firecracker, I would prefer the mules to the red flats with the kimono outfit. The red shoes are house shoes and I forgot to change them. It has been mostly a home bound week with a bad head cold.

How funny, Joy! I thought your house shoes looked good! I hope you are feeling better soon! I had a bad head cold last week, and it had me doing not much of anything for a couple of days. :(

Fabulous red kimono! The fabric looks nice and weighty.

  • Aquamarine replied 6 years ago

They both look super, Joy. I agree sans belt the red kimono works fine. I too like the red house shoes with it!

I love that red kimono on you ,it’s gorgeous.sure it’s voluminous but that will give it good swishiness when you move.I really like the denim one on you as well.

  • Runcarla replied 6 years ago

Red sure does love you, Joy! The kimono outfit is beautiful.

The kimono, red shoes and your hair make a beautiful outfit!

Firecracker, Jessikams, Aquamarine, Cardiff Girl, Runcarla and MsMaven, thank you for your encouragement. I do like wearing this shade of red and wish I could find more footwear in the color. Most reds are more cherry or deeper. The kimono makes a good topper for summer. Cardiff Girl, you are right. It does have a lovely swishiness.

Gasp! Beautiful! And I like the 2nd outfit too.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

    FABULOUS. You nailed it.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Thank you, jussie and Angie. I want to play more with duster outfits. Today I am wearing lots of volume...wide legged Gap crops, peasant top with tassel ties under the denim duster. I still hope to get a photo but I like the result better than I thought I would.

  • Kari replied 6 years ago

Totally agreed with how you styled it here. What a beautiful piece! I love how the denim duster gives you a very different look-casual but streamlined.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Kari, " casual but streamlined" is a good way to describe it. Thank you.

    GORGEOUS!

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Thank you, Mainlady. I was going to try that kimono with a red dress today, but found that the fabric had a large rip in the shoulder. So sad..

  • Aida replied 6 years ago

Both versions look super, Joy! I like the kimono best unbelted with this as you have here. Would also be lovely with a lighter column underneath. Second outfit has a great casual, arty vibe to it.
