June Challenge: Travel Week Casual

In June I have challenged myself to use what I have, I hope in some new ways while deciding what needs to be edited out. Fabbers have been a huge help. This week I am away from home and closet with some of my favorite hot weather things and some more utilitarian.
Today is about as casual as I get, even at home, dressed for a hot day of walking/hiking and baby tending.
Pants were EF knits bought for a trip to Ireland, but became favorites for hot weather as they are light weight and can be rolled. On top are layered Target tank, graphic tank, and moto vest. Shoes are twins of Suz's ECCO pewter sneakers, so light and comfortable. Not a fashionable outfit, but useful for my day.

Totally fashionable!  I am always SO impressed with your WIWs!!

Thank you, JJ. This means a lot coming from such a fashionable lass.

Looks good Joy! I can tell you with certainty that I didn't look nearly this good on my last hike :)

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Ha, Aida, you would have paired the graphic tee with some plai or patterned pants and have looked fresh and amazing.

You would think so! But no, I wore super slouchy skinnies and canvas sneakers with a cropped hoodie. The jeans were toooo sloppy feeling, especially rolled, and way too warm. I could really use a pair of soft cropped pants like yours for this sort of thing!

    EDIT: Photo proof :)

    Aida, you look very pretty.

Joy, this is fantastic! I think this looks really quite stylish! I love it on you!

I know you bat for team dressy, but this is a great casual outfit. Definitely on the dressier end for hiking (my gear is not nearly as nice as yours or Aida's) and nice enough to run around town.

Just. Wow! Love the graphic tank under moto vest.

Totally love the outfit. I particularly like the rolled hems on the pants.... I should really start doing that too. Your at-home wear looks inspiring Joy!

Thank you, Kellygirl. I suspect that it round look more stylish if I'd worn anklestrap shoes instead of the sneakers, but sneakers were what I needed.
Dee, thank you. You are right that I bat for Team Dressy, so this is quite a switch. I did wear this to the Farmers Market tonight.
Thank you, Carla. Wearing the vest helped the outfit feel more like me.
Maneera, I seldom wear shorts anymore, even in our hottest weather. Rolling a narrow pant or jean helps make them bearable while providing coverage in the heat.

The graphic tank takes the whole outfit up several notches past "useful" in my book. I really must get a couple of those!

You look perfectly turned out for the day at hand, Joy.  Isn't that the essence of dressing well?

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Thank you, tulle. I got this graphic tank at a consignment store and love it. I plan to use it as a pattern to make another from a regular tee. It is perfect for exercising.
That's a wise observation, Summer. You make me feel better about the casualness.
