Happy Birthday, Sweet Angie: ETA 2nd outfit

Happy Birthday! I felt sad today as it was the husband of my best friend of over 60 years funeral in another state and I could not go. This man was a charming gentle giant and had battled pancreatic cancer over 3 years. I will dress in a more festive way tomorrow or some time this weekend,
Today was hot and we had the little grandkids over for the day the first time in months. Tomorrow is supposed to be over 100F.
I hope you had a delightful day.
Today for you I am wearing pearls and my doggie tee. For the heat and to play on the floor, I am wearing long linen culottes.

Awe :(   A three yr. battle is quite a battle.  So sorry Joy.

I have nothing but hatred for this horrible disease that causes so much pain and suffering .
    xo

I love the outfit ,  great for being with the grandkids.  They are blessed to have you in their lives!

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you, Taylor. For your kind words.

Oh Joy,  I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We are not meant to grieve in isolation.

However, I don’t know how you do it, but you just ooze style, elegance and fun!

So sorry to hear this news. You look lovely in your pearls and doggie t-shirt. I hope you can catch up with your friend safely soon.

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

    Oh I’m so sorry, Joy.

The pearls, doggie and white are really a lovely bday tribute for Angie. Spot on.

I am sorry about your friend Joy.
The doggie top is the perfect Angie tee!

Oh Joy, I'm so sorry. I look forward to you sharing your festive outfit, but this one is lovely as always. Your details always make everything elegant. - like  those shoes bookending your hair and picking up the print in those amazing pants.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you karen13, Shevia, Rachylou, Bijou, and merwoman. Thank you for your sympathy. I want to cry but can’t stop if I start. Does anyone else have this problem? It scares people.

My condolences...I hope you can see your best friend soon.  Wow, 60 years of friendship...that is very special.

I'm glad you could be with your grandkids today.

I know to you this outfit is a casual play-on-the-floor look, but I have to say that it is one of my favorite of yours!  The dog tee with the pants is just so fun and and practically stylish!  The pearls and white flats elevate it to chic.  Where did you get those pants?

Sorry for your loss. Hope being with grandkids will take some heaviness of the heart away.
You look wonderful and stylish - love all the elements of the outfit ( I wish I could steal your pants and wear it myself :) ).

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Oh, Joy -- how incredibly kind and thoughtful for you to post on such a tough day. You may not have felt festive but you still managed to think of and honour Angie with your style -- that doggie tee is so fab, and your white touches show evidence of her influence.

I hope you can rest up and allow yourself to grieve. It is so hard to lose those we care about in this time whether the cause is COVID or something else. So hard not to be able to share the sadness. Hugs.

The pants are from a local consignment shop and made in Thailand. They will fit almost anyone and have pockets. Buying them supports Thai women who do not want to be prostitutes and they work with my glucose monitor.
I am thankful that DH arranged for the grandkids to come today. They are so sweet but active and their parents needed a break. The little girl loves dogs and the little boy loves to read clues that lead him to a new box of Legos.

Thank you, Suz, I don’t know what my friend will do as she has a house in Nebraska and had just bought a second in Sun City, Arizona, ( near Phonix) before her husband had his cancer diagnosis. They were here to visit less than a year ago and he was in pain walking around but bore it well, my friend is always on the go and he did his best to keep up.

I am so sorry about your friend. I think losses feel greater when we are not able to be together in our grief.

Your outfit is fun and soooo perfect for playing with your grandchildren! Oooh! I can imagine lots of love and smiles during their visit!

This is a sad situation for your friend and for you to be separated at this time so painful. I'm sorry.
Your outfit projects optimism and looks terrific on you. Nothing better than an outfit you can play in while looking great and expressing yourself. I'm so glad you got to see your grandkids.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

Oh Ruth, my condolences for your friend's loss. So hard and sad. Just tragic. I know you will be of great support to her.

Thanks for posting an outfit despite your heavy heart. It's KILLER Fashion Forward Fabenss, and I'm impressed! You are ready for NYFW. LOVE that tee and the pearls. The white shoes are magical too. Hope Maggie is feeling better. Much love. xo

Here is today’s outfit. White pants rolled, orange tee, and white AGL sneakers with laces tucked in. Red-orange bag is Nicole Miller New York. I wore the white pants, (too hot for jeans) and orange tee and white sneakers and pearl necklace and earrings for Angie

  • Bonnie replied 3 years ago

It's kind of magical how being with small children helps with dealing with loss. You look lovely in both outfits and those pants are the bomb.

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

Joy, as always you look fab. The linen outfit is stunning. It’s got a sophisticated but free wheeling feel, And your red and white outfit is tailored and perfect. You have Amazing range
Sorry about your Loss hope you will be able to spend time with your friend soon

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

KILLER second outfit too! All items fit really well. Love all the white.

  • nuancedream replied 3 years ago

Joy, I am so sorry for your friend's loss. So emotionally devastating. Spending time with children can be a soothing balm to heal the pain.
You always look wonderful and your outfits always have a special touch of whimsy and personality. Love the tee, pearls and linen culottes. You definitely look like the "cool" grandma.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you all for your wise soothing words. Nuancedream, I hope someday I can be a “cool” grandma . Angie, I thought you would like the white, it is my main light neutral for this time of year. Kkards, my goal is to show classic or the usual outfits with a bit of a twist. I’m happy that you see that. Bonnie, I could see you wearing pants like those and fitting with your style, which I admire very much.

  • Joyce B replied 3 years ago

Joy, I am very sorry for the loss of your friend’s husband and that the current situation did not allow for you to be there. I am sure your friend feels your support and love, now and also during the difficult journey that her husband faced.
What a blessing for you to be able to have the kids over.
Your outfits are lovely and practical. The pearls, doggy shirt and light colored pants are Angie fab. The AG sneakers look fab and cozy, just what is needed.

  • Christina F. replied 3 years ago

I’m so sorry about your friend. What an awful year this is. YOU look great, if that’s any comfort.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Thank you for your sympathetic words. Joyce and Christina. I hope 2021 will be much more hopeful. Right now I do not feel that I can ask anyone to come see us because there is no where to go. Getting take out is just. It the same as eating out, everywhere takes lots of advance planning and making reservations, even parks or the Zoo, Trails are not social distancing friendly as they are very busy and you are not to step off of them to the side. If someone is coming toward you. Some musicians can play but not in my county or anywhere near. Even then tickets are very limited and the musians wear masks...not good for singing, The exception is online streaming shows. No real shopping and I doubt that you can stop for a drink and bite to eat.

Joy, you look just as lovely in the second outfit. I am sure your friendship will be a huge comfort to your friend in this time.

  • replied 3 years ago

So sorry to hear about your friend :( And sad you can't even walk on trails! How on earth can musicians wear masks?! Love the first outfit though!
