Dressing to support the home team without a team tee

I have a wardrobe hole. I needed something to wear to show Kansas City Royals team support these past few weeks. I've yet to find a tee I like so made do with this cobalt silk shirt (thrifted). Shown with hem semi tucked and worn out. Do you have a preference or other suggestions? I also have a cobalt jacket worn with my EF white skirt from this year's NAS ( didn't get a photo), I welcome your comments and suggestions. Is the shirt too dated? Sneakers are AGL.

Looks great to me! I like it worn all the way out.

I finally broke down and bought myself an L.A. Dodgers tee just to have on hand for times like that.

The blouse is gorgeous, and I like it semi-tucked with that outfit! Your team spirit has class, Joy.

Looks great to me. Royal blue is a super color on you. I like it untucked as well.

Hmmm...Falcons, Braves, Hawks...not sure I need to fill any holes anytime soon;-)

Carter, it's been 30 years for the Royals !

You really look great in "Royal" blue! Untucked looks best, I think.

Unfortunately, my team colors are orange and black - Halloween - yuck - who thought of that?

Beautiful color on you!  I like untucked best.

I caught the last 2 innings of the winning game on TV and was so impressed with them!  My family was asleep and I was the only one cheering in the living room, LOL!

    I like it worn out.
I've had issues with collars that shape in older blouses and that, plus whatever else, led me to toss. But if looks find for team spirit, plus I like the pendant you have with it. This blouse might also work with pencil skirt.

Looks perfect to me! I always like the elegant take on sports enthusiasm - like this. Classy. Happy for the royals this year.

Love it. You could just find an acceptable-to-you Royals shirt (I might choose a white shirt with the crown logo) and wear it as your graphic T. I wear Husker gear like that all the time.

Can't say anything about team support but your outfit looks great!

I'm thinking you look like a jayhawk.  Teehee.

(Seriously, I love cobalt.  Just think, if I'd have gone to Purdue, I'd have to wear that "old gold."

Wonderful way to support the team, beautiful top!

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

Beth Ann, LOL.  Actually I was not a Jayhawk but a Terrible Swede.  I think colors were blue and gold, but we all wore dark blue.  One DS was a Fighting Illini and everything was orange.

Tracey and Shevia, you are sweethearts.

Ah I see that a long reply was lost. Nebraskim, that is a good idea.  I will look for such a shirt.  I wanted a local craft beer Royals shirt but they were sold out.

Unfrumped and abc, this is a different take on team spirit but I will continue to look for something better.  I did wear this shirt with my pale grey Halogen pencil skirt and white leather jacket on Sunday and got compliments.

AJ, the games were pretty exciting.  There were actually hits and runs.  This team has stuck together as a team, no one a star/media hog.  I like that about them.

JAlieen, our closest high school has orange and black and everyone kind of hates it.  We have lots of neighborhood houses with orange lights on their homes and trees at playoff time.

I ended up wearing the shirt out.  It is slippery and refused to stay tucked.

Joy, this is a really classy way to "show your colours".  The top is beautiful and looks great styled either way, but I see it made up its own mind about how it wanted to be worn!

This is fab, Joy. I love the idea of wearing team colors without resorting to a jersey or t-shirt. "My" soccer team is in the MLS playoffs right now, and I desperately wish they had colors I could naturally incorporate into my wardrobe. Alas, "rave green" is not a color I see myself in regularly.

It sounds like I graduated from the same school as your son. Class of '95. At least, for me, the blue/orange made for an easy transition to Denver.  :)

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

I did respond but must have forgotten to hit submit.

Summer, yes this slippery top has a mind of its own.

Jenn, DS was a few years after you and is also now in the Denver area. I don't think he paints his face orange these days but who knows.

I think you look wonderful! And yes, I was a Royals fan for this World Series. It was wonderful to watch.

  • Mander replied 8 years ago

Go Royals! Woohoo! (I was born in KC though I can't remember much about it). I wish I'd been able to see some of the games but between the time difference and the fact that we don't have a TV right now it just wasn't happening.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

The games were pretty exciting with extra innings and all.  Hundreds of thousands of fans welcomed the team back with a parade.  I still have not found a team shirt that I love.  Maybe it is time to support the soccer team (Sporting KC)  They don't get the press that they deserve here.

  • Sal replied 8 years ago

You look wonderful here, smart and supportive but still you!
At least the team colours are appealing.  I did a google search and I see they are a baseball team...:)
