Daily Festive Outfits

Today for Tanya's mini-challenge to dress festive each day. I have 2 outfits, both with scarves. It has snowed and is very cold. The high is 5F; feels like -2F (-16C feel like -18C) with the wind. When we go out tonight it will be and feel much colder. (-18C feels like -24C)
The first outfit shown (1-3), is for the Symphony tonight in Denver. Wool beaded skirt and BR black fitted turtle neck with Blondo boots and light weight wool scarf from Japan.
The second outfit (4-5) worn earlier today out to the library and for a Greek lunch, as well as at home was for warmth. Gap cable sweater, Target heavy denim joggers, SE Petty booties and Christmas scarf. I am forced to wear my long black Anne Klein puffer with both outfits for warmth. Coat in finds looks like mine.
I'm not sure about the way I'm wearing these scarves. The first seems too messy and the second seems not messy enough. What do you think? Suggestions and comments welcomed. I may yet change the first scarf before leaving. Both scarves look ok with both outfit and coat, I think.

The skirt is beautiful on you Joy and the scarf works well with it but I am not sure about how well the way you have tied it works with the turtleneck top. I think I would prefer the scarf worn that way with a crew neck top or tied more muffler style so that it is closer to, or completely disguises, the turtleneck. I love the second outfit as is.

Both outfits look terrific. I don't know a thing about tying scarves but I love the skirt.

Fantastic skirt and your keeping warm outfit is just as chic!

The (really beautiful) longer skirt is great with the knee-high boots; I like the combination on you.

Thank you. Brooklyn, I think you figured out what is wrong with the scarf! I ended up changing out the multi scarf for a red one with scattered sequins. I like it better as it looks more seasonal and will try for a photo tomorrow as I'm thinking of wearing the same warm outfit to early Mass.
This beaded wool skirt is so useful this time of year.

    That beaded skirt!!!

    What a lovely skirt!
I really like both outfits, you look great in both. The only thing that doesn't sit completely right is the first scarf, as you and Brooklyn already said.
Have you tried to pair the skirt with suede boots? I understand this isn't a feasible idea in your current weather, but in better outdoor conditions that type of boots could look even more elegant, while a less shiny material would make the skirt stand out even more.

The Christmas scarf from the second outfit looks really good on you, the colour is great and coordinates with the bag nicely.
    Very pretty.

Love both outfits on you! Hope to see your beaded skirt with the red scarf you ended up wearing! :)

Your beaded skirt is beautiful! I think switching the first ensemble to include a red scarf (with sequins) was a good move. As pretty as the multi scarf is, it competes with the skirt... which deserves to be the star of the show. Your second outfit is very festive and casually chic. The light colored SE Petty boots are a nice addition to the ensemble and perfectly bookend your lovely cable knit pullover. I am sure that your long black puffer looked great with both outfits. We are also in full "puffer weather" here, so I totally understand that warmth needs to be part of the fashion equation. :-)

The beaded skirt is gorgeous and deserves attention so think a scarf that uses a color from it's embroidery(red) and some of the  season's trend mark (sequins) was the clue!  Nr 2 looks  easy and warm,  but still very crisp and trendy!:-)

I'm not a skirt person, but I really love that skirt. It's so pretty and interesting. I love the white sweater outfit, so chic

  • Mirjana replied 7 years ago

The skirt is fabulous, I really like it, agree about the scarf. The second outfit is also great I love sweater and booties, you look super.

I have not come across Tanya's posts.  I'm sure they are there.  I just might not have time to search for them.

But I do see your mini-challenge posts!!  GREAT challenge.  GREAT posts.

I have really enjoyed your Holiday spirit.  Although this one is good, I think yesterdays was my favorite of the set.  I'll continue to watch for you posts.

Happy Holidays to you and your Family.

La Pedestrienne, Tisa, Donna, El Cee, lyn67, Cynthiawalkersmith, Mirjana, and Sterling, thank you for taking time to comment. I am very happy that I have this warm skirt for holiday events in frigid weather.
Donna, I meant to wear the same outfit to church today to get a photo of it with the red scarf, but then decided the beading may not survive a squirmy lap-sitting toddler, and wore something else.
Sterling, I should probably do these challenge photos a week at a time. Thank you for watching for my posts on this. It means a lot. Happy Holidays to you.

What a beautiful skirt, Joy!  It is a stunning outfit and I agree with Brooklyn  the scarf.   The second outfit is a very stylish casual festive outfit, love the color theme.

Thank you for joining my challenge.  I have been regularly doing it, that is wearing festive outfits daily, but am behind posting- have about 5-6 of those outfits to post.   Off to do the work!

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Tanya, thank you for starting the challenge. It has been fun each day to figure out a way to had some bling or other festive element.

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

I somehow missed this challenge also, although I have to admit I have been wearing gym clothing the last two days! Perhaps I can start this evening as I have a date with a friend for cocktails. :)

I love your beaded skirt, Joy, and you look amazing in it. I agree with Brooklyn about the scarf. But I also understand the need for warmth!

Meanwhile, the second, more casual outfit is equally fun and fab.

Oh, what lovely outfits! I'm not the best at scarves, but I don't mind how you have yours tied. I love how the light shades echo your lovely hair.

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

    Tres chic. Up game :)

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Thank you Suz, Diane and Rachylou. Suz, I would not wear the skirt for everyday like I hsve the Jean outfits, at least not yet. Maybe when it gets older. I wear skirts for everyday in the summer all the time but have not gotten in the habit of doing so in cold weather. Hmmmm. Diane, I love that scarf with the soft colors and it does bring out the blues in the skirt beading. I need to experiment with more outfits and that scarf.
