Class Reunion Help: Part Three for the dinner and photos

For this event I wanted to wear a dress or skirt but not be really dressed up. For your consideration are 3 EF dresses that are not black and a Halogen seamed pencil skirt. I am not trying to impress, just to look good and approachable. It's been 50 years since I saw most of my classmates and I probably won't see them again! Please tell me what you think of these options. I will not be wearing my fitbit on my arm and will wear makeup and comb my hair.
1: EF sapphire blue lantern dress
2: EF midnight blue high back V-neck dress
3: EF firefly cowl neck assymetrical hem dress
4: Halogen skirt with dark navy silk top
Please be totally honest and if you think that you have seen me in better choices tell me about it :)

Gosh Joy you look beautiful in all of them, but my gut tells me #1. Beautiful! You are going to knock the socks off of all of the people you reunite with! :) :) :)

  • Kristin SF replied 9 years ago

My choice is #1 too. All these colors look so great on you, but I just gravitate towards #1 as the best, it's just a beautiful color on you!

I would go with one of the dresses--all look fabulous on you. The skirt outfit looks a little more work-like to me.
My favorite of the dresses is #2 for this occasion. I like the way it frames your face and shows your slender figure. Second choice is #3--again, figure flattering, gorgeous color, and the cowl neck is really pretty on you, bringing attention to your face.
I do love #3 on you, but the emphasis is at the hem on that one, and I like bringing attention to your face for this event.

You could not go wrong with any of them, so you might choose by comfort.

My favorite is 2. There's something about the short sleeves that looks "together, but not too dressy or casual" to me.

  • Nebraskim replied 9 years ago

I like 3 due to the color. The dark blues seem too "safe." But you look great in all four looks.

My gut reaction was 1, I love that silhouette and neckline.  However 2 and 3 are also extremely good.  I think any of the dresses is a bit more special than the skirt combination which to me reads more work/day.

You are so lovely in all of these. I'm having trouble choosing. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of these.

Per your suggestion, I looked back at a couple of recent posts…have you tried the dark paisley side of your reversible dress with the shoes you have on in these pics? Maybe that combo would be good for your reunion dinner.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I like each of these dresses and they are all very comfortable. I also have an EF black ballet neckline which is my favorite of them all, but it is black. Zibbets, I'd not thought of the reversible dress. I do love that paisley side. Thank you for taking time to go back and find it.
Nebraskim, I also have a deep pink dress that is like #1. Another not safe color :). I think that orangey red is better with my complexion than the pink though.
Sharan, thank you for detailing your impressions. You are so wise. You are right. I should try to bring the focus to my face.

I love #2 it looks fantastic on you :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

I am partial to #2. But #1 is also wonderful. I think the short sleeve gives a bit more coverage in deference to the cooler evening temperatures this time of year.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 9 years ago

I like the v-neck and sleeves and cut of #2 best.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I love #3 first and #1 next. You will look killer no matter what, Joy. Have a great time. xo

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I vote 2, then 1.  I think the short sleeves are a little more dressy than the sleeveless in this style and fabric, without being fussy or too covered.  The color is TDF.

I have a reunion coming up too and am also agonizing over what to wear.  It's two months away but never too early to agonize!

Without reading anyone else's answers - I vote #4. You have amazing legs, and #4 shows them best.

Cannot believe you're going on 50th reunion. Wow. Do not look it at all. There is hope for me yet. LOL

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

I vote 2. It looks great. My next favorite is 1.
I hope you have a great time.

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

I like 1 best, then 2, then 3. I'm not a big fan of 4, because it feels a little "officey" to me. I think the colors of 1 and 2 are really excellent with your natural coloring.

  • Aubergine replied 9 years ago

My first impression was #1 or #3, which both look amazing on you. I also like #2, especially since it's the same stunning color as the first one, but something about the neckline makes it look a little less special-event worthy.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

#2 for the occasion. You are a pleasure to pick outfits for Joy, all the options are fantastic.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

I' m still not sure which dress to take. I wonder which would look best in photos. I'm leaning toward 2 or 3, although I like the brighter blue of 1. Thank you all for looking and sharing your thoughts.
Shiny, I can't believe it has been 50 years since high school. Where did the time go?!

  • spoff replied 9 years ago

You look beautiful in all these outfits Joy. If you are considering what will photograph well I think # 1 is the most flattering. I actually said ooooh out loud when I saw the colur on you :)

  • Vix replied 9 years ago

    Hi Joy --

Too hard to pick, really! You look elegant but fun/approachable in all (though I agree #4 is a bit more of a work look).

I vote #1 or 3; both should photograph well. You might see how each looks sitting down as it seems a lot of CR photos are shot from the table up. ;)

I hope you have a wonderful time!

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

    Number four Joy.

  • Kookaburra replied 9 years ago

I vote #4, it just jumped out at me straight away. The length of the skirt shows off your legs to perfection, and the proportions look perfect.

  • Day Vies replied 9 years ago

I love all of these choices -- especially #3. You look fabulous in orange. (at least it looks orange on my screen). I think I understand the level of dress you're aiming for and #4 and #2 seem to capture that best. I love those sandals  they are just the right level of polished casual.
