Chopped jeans

Inspired by Angie, I took a scissors and chopped. Did I chop off enough?
These are shown with 1.5 inch heeled pumps. I have ankle strap flats too to try.
The jeans have not been washed yet since the chop. Is the flare at the bottom too large? I can always cut them shorter for summer clam diggers.
What do you think so far?

They look great to me Joy. I think the flare is just right. I love all your stylings, especially #1 and #2 with the fabulous graphic tee.

  • Janet replied 7 years ago

I feel like they could *maybe* be another 1/2" to 1" shorter, but they look great as is. Nice tee!

  • Mirjana replied 7 years ago

I am not an expert for the lenght of cropped jeans but I like how they look on you.

Joy, I think the length looks perfect, and I like them with those pumps. All the outfits are fun! One thing about these jeans: they seem a little loose in the thigh/knee area, whereas I think some of the cropped flare styles are more fitted in that area. So yours do look a little different, yet current, in my view.
(I've put the ones I bought recently, in Finds, as an example.)

I think they look great, Joy.  Very flattering.

When I did mine I tried them with a pair of ankle strap sandals so I could get the hem just above the strap with a pinch of skin.  I liked mine with pumps even when they were too long.....so it MAY make a difference.

  • citygirldc replied 7 years ago

Wow. That's the perfect length on you. Keep them the way they are.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Marilyn, that sounds like a very good way of determining the length the jeans should be. Thank you for commenting.
Sharan, I see now how the width of these jeans in the thighs may be throwing things off. I will include a photo of the Joes white jeans as they seem to fit more closely in thigh and knee. What do you think? The outfit was inspired by yours.
ElCee, Mirjana, Citygirl and Janet, thank you for your helpful comments, especially about the length. I am just 5'3", so may error on the long side or cut quite a bit shorter.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

Another half to one inch off with that width of flare.

Joy, do these jeans seem big on you?

  • replied 7 years ago

What a great look overall!  I can see how an additional 1/2 inch would be good, but the concept here is terrific on you. The graphic t really pulls it all together for a modern look.

Listen to Angie. Love the Dylan Tee.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Angie, these jeans are more of a boyfriend fit, so they do feel big. I will try more off after washing them with the frayed edge. They may end up being garden jeans.

  • Isabel replied 7 years ago

Love them on you !  But I agree with Jjsloane : listen to Angie : )

  • RobinF replied 7 years ago

Those look great, the flare is perfect. I agree maybe a tad bit shorter.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

They look cute in a relaxed cut, Joy. Try a semi-tuck and belt too.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Thank you, Angie. I'll shorten, belt and try a semituck.
Robin, Isabel, Lisa and JJ, I will listen to Angie and do the homework. She knows her stuff.

They look great. Agree with chopping a bit more.
Really liking the assymetrical tank / jacket combo.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Thank you, Elizabeth. I am still wearing the assymetrical tank and jacket combo and they have a high happiness factor.

Joy, your comment is re: the gray jeans on your other thread, right? The ones you cuffed like these white ones. The white jeans/black top outfit is awesome! And I'm flattered to have inspired it!

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Agree just a bit shorter, but already great!

  • Colette replied 7 years ago

Love your styling, especially #1. I cannot really speak to the length because I have not figured mine out yet, but they look good to me.

  • Joy replied 7 years ago

Sharan, you are right. And the white ones are the big cuff style I bought. I loved your outfit!
Shevia, I've already done a bit more chopping and washed the jeans. They may need more off.
Collette, thank you. I'm glad they are working out.

You are so courageous and you did it! And with a beautiful result. Perfect length. They are wide because that is the shape that is in now. I think the cute patent ballerinas and the cropped jacket are delicate details balancing out the pants' exhilaration.

  • Lyn D. replied 7 years ago

Not commenting on the length Joy, but I just love your outfits here, especially #2!

  • Sally replied 7 years ago

I like how you have styled these especially the jacket in the last photo.

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

Teensy bit shorter... but what I really wanted to say is the these coats look so great with these crops and a tee!!
