Casual Ink, Chartreuse & White with Una's shirt. ETA another version of the ensemble

Inspired by Angie's post this morning I shopped my closet and used Hudson dark denim jeans, a JCrew chartreuse from Una via The Style Exchange, and white gingham shirt and Trove almost white loafers withan ancient blue leather shoulder bag that keeps getting rescued from the donate bag. How does this look? Would more white be better? Should the bag be retired as too dated.
ETA photo 2: a different version of the ensemble colors. Target chartreuse jeans, Target white tee, thrifted JJill unlined linen jacket. AGL sneaker/oxfords.

I love this! YLF in a gingham check, and the colour combo is so fresh. I think all the pieces look great--your shoe choice is perfect and you also have white in the shirt so I think you nailed it. I can't see the full bag (and on my phone so pic is small). But it looks like it might work as a crossbody, which could update its vibe if you feel it's old? From what I can see the bag's shape looks like a lot of the crossbody styles I've seen.

Yes, I can wear the bag as a crossbody. I even tried a photo wearing it that way but it didn't turn out. The bag is a bit deeper than my daytime clutch bags and a simple style.

Joy I think this is a great take on the ensemble.  I am so used to seeing gingham in blue or black that the yellow is very refreshing.  It works really well with the blues too.

    Very cute!

    You nailed it! Fab!

This looks very good Joy! Love that shirt! Nice renditions.

Terrific! You could add more white, in a handbag, since that suits you well, but this is fab!

What a  fun casual interpretation! I really love the shoes and think they do a lot to update it all.

If you keep rescuing the bag from the donate bin, it sounds as if it fills a need. :)

What a fresh-looking outfit. I love the sporty vibe, and your new loafers look fantabulous with the pants. I agree with Suz--the purse is making itself useful enough to retrieve, so I'd hang on to it until you no longer find yourself reaching for it.

I am SO GLAD you took that shirt. It's the Joy shirt now, and it brings me joy to see you wear it so well!

You look awesome! Love those shoes with the outfit ☺

    Super cute. Preppy Retro fun.

Great shoes, love the outfit. I don't think the bag looks dated at all. It's a great color.

    Fun outfit, Joy!

I love your interpretation Joy. Gingham has to be one of my favourite prints, I would so easily wear this look myself. The crop jeans, which are also very on trend, make this a perfect for the Summer too.

Carole, Donna, Thistle, Mira, and Cheryle, thank you for the boost for this outfit.
Rebecca, Firecracker and Suz, the handbag. Yes, it needs a reprieve from donation for now. Unfrumped, I could use a white bag. Good idea.
Rebecca, Ankita, Firecracker and Suz, I'm happy with these new loafer/slip-on sneaker hybrids and that you feel they look good with this outfit.
Angie, it is fun to do a retro preppy outfit for a change. I didn't see the preppy until you mentioned it.
Una, I love this shirt and it's unorthodox color for gingham. Thank you.

Color Queen, I missed your reply. I enjoy gingham, often mixed with other prints.

Fantastic Joy - I especially like #1! Can't see enough of the bag to say but the color is perfect here.

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

Joy, you are adorable. Full stop.

    Thank you, Shevia and Suz.
