Angie's Neutrals Ensemble: A Casual Summer Version

Inspired by Angie's post yesterday but not optimistic about finding the neutrals in my summer clothes, I searched and came up with this. I tried to stick to the darker neutrals and not include any version of white. Does it work?
The brown sandals have not been worn yet this summer. They are comfortable but the color...Angie, I think they may stay around a bit longer. I've kept them because my DSIL admires them so much but they are far from her size. Has anyone else ever kept something because someone else likes it on you?

I've definitely kept items that people say look good on me. It's the entire reason why I wear pink, lol. Loving your look, especially the bag. Summer neutrals really work for you.

Great iteration. The bag is a fab combo. I agree, this range of "colors" works really well for you.

This is the best neutral ensemble by far. I love the sleeveless drapey vest. Brown accessories look great with black and khaki combo.

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

This neutrals combo works great, I like the satiny finish of your top. I think the sandals are very nice, color included, I hope they get more wear this season.

I absolutely love this outfit on you Joy :)

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Great interpretation Joy!  Love that drapey vest!

The dark tops are great against your hair and skin.  Then the lighter bottoms and neutral bag and shoes?  Great mix!  And to answer your other question - of course I keep things others like on me - and roll my eyes to myself when I put "it" on :)  ( cough- Eddie Bauer sweater from my husband - cough)

    Beautiful. Wow. I vote killer.

I love those pretty toe thong sandals. Gorgeous on your feet. Now you can enjoy them WITH DSIL. xo

    Love this Joy!
No to your question- I have to feel Fab in everything I wear- and others rarely  comment anyway.

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

I love this combo. Those sandals are great. I would keep them a bit longer.

  • Mellllls replied 9 years ago

    this looks great!

  • JAileen replied 9 years ago

Very nice! The pants bookend your hair and the bag ties all the colors together.

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

wow, i really like this! this really helped me to see how the darker neutrals on top are balanced nicely with lighter grey bottoms because you are showing skin on both your arms and legs. light bulb moment!

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

This looks great!  I really like those sandals as well.  The color seems perfect for this outfit.

I have been enjoying this outfit on a hot humid day, but am overwhelmed by the great reception it has received here. It's hard to put together something decent looking for a steamy day.
Urbanfae, I wear pink because of others too. :)
Unfrumped, Lisap, Melllls, JAileen, Mona, Gracie and Debbie, thank you. I am enjoying this color combination and will try other versions. I think these colors would make a brilliant travel capsule.
Urbanfae, Unfrumped, and JAileen, thank you for noticing the bag. It is a vintage find from a thrift shop that makes me smile each summer when it comes out to play, and I'd hoped it would pull the colors together.
Mona and Tanya, thank you for the vest comments. It gets lots of action as a cool third piece for outfits on hot days.
Gracie, Angie, Debbie, and Sara L., the sandals will see more action. I've liked them well enough but hadn't thought of pairing them with anything but brown.
Shannon, I appreciate your comment from a woman of style. The grey pants are EF bought this spring for our trip. They are so cool and light weight. I hope that they look ok rolled.
Angie, I am thrilled that this rated a K! The sandals were thrifted but were in new condition and well made.
    Lyn, I like your attitude.
Kkards, thank you for sharing your insights. The colors came together accidentally with the weather and what I had. I will remember your discovery as using the lighter color on the bottom can be hard to balance.

    I love this outfit Joy.

I second the 'killer'.   OMG, Joy, this is a great outfit, and you look gorgeous!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you ,Caro in Oz and La Belle. I love the enthusiasm it has gotten. My next travel capsule should be in these colors.

I am very biased toward neutrals, so of course I love it. That bag is brilliant for bringing all of the different tones together. Brown leather sandals with a black silk top , who'da thunk it would look so fab?! :D

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Thank you, Claire. The silk top looks black in the photo. It's actually navy and the vest is black.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Wow. Well done Joy, love the vest!

  • BethL replied 9 years ago

This is wonderful, Joy. I love how you've brought all the elements together into a cohesive whole. Kind of artsy, definitely fab. I think it's the sandals and awesome bag that do it.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

It's dark heavy on top, but works great with the heavier dark sandal to anchor it.  The bag ties it all together.  What is that amazing vest Joy?

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Great outfit, Joy, and I love the way the bag brings texture as well!!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

What a great casual, chic outfit, Joy! Love the black vest over black semi-tucked shell. The brown belt and sandals are so much fresher than the more tonal look that we might have expected. The sandals look so nice on your feet, too; I can see why your DSIL admires them on you. Now you've got another combination of tones to wear them with. The purse is a fun addition.

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

That brown color of the sandals pairs very well with black.  And the sandals coordiante with your bag perfectly, a nice look here.
