Angie’s Challenge: Friday

Today I wanted some real pattern mixing. Weather is chilly with a big snowstorm on the way so I hope to get out while I can and find presents for DS who has a birthday next week. We also plan to go to a new-to-us Italian restaurant.
This outfit is me because
1: hectic pattern mixing and leopard. I used to have blue leopard jeans too but they were purged because too low a rise.
2: white jeans
3: booties
4: big navy bag for shopping
5: warm enough but not too warm indoors for shopping.
6: thrifted earrings, clearance cardigan
7: sparkly socks
The jeans are Paige Hoxtons but are a lower rise on me than the black pair I wore yesterday. Top is not sparking joy because it is polyester. It has been kept until a better version can be found. I have very little pattern for this time of year. I wish the jeans fit better. Do they look ok or should I get rid of them. I am very happy with the white booties but added sparkly cobalt socks for warmth when going out. I liked how the socks peeked through the openings in the booties. So not a complete win of an outfit for me, but a work in progress.
Sorry about the darkness of the photos.
Is the pattern mix ok? What about the half tuck version as seen in #1?

I like the leopards together-doesn't look hectic to me :)
Not seeing the sparkly cobalt socks though....must see the sparkly cobalt socks!

Ok. I'll see if I have a find or get a photo. (Like the red ones below only blue. I also have the red and some silver and some black, all bought to wear to show.)

    What happy red...click...
Sold out, darn...I mean nice socks!
All the low cut and cut out booties really call for fun socks I think :)

    love the sparkling socks!
i'm not a pattern mixer, so it is a bit much for me, but you wear it well... i like that the white jeans counterbalance it. for me the white jeans act as like a sorbet served between courses as a  palate neutralizer

Pattern mixing looks great with the white jeans and boots.

Love the outfit! It is a very interesting pattern mix and so harmonious. It is very sophisticated and stylish. It suits you so beautifully. See, this is why you are such an inspiration.

I think the pattern mixing is very good here, and the sparkly socks are a great touch!

Pretty jewelry , sparkly socks, white jeans and booties etc. -ALL - come together to make this outfit:
    Eclectic Joy!
    FABULOUS!

I like this outfit a lot. The pattern mixing isn't too much, IMO, because the patterns seem to complement each other.

Regarding the jeans, they do look a little too big in the leg for you. It sounds like you're not feeling fab in them. If I'm not mistaken, you have other pairs of white jeans. Would you miss these if you got rid of them? You could probably sell them on consignment if they're in good condition.

As for the half tuck, I really like it! I think it helps ease the transition between the pattern-rich top and the solid bottom. The half tuck looks casual but not messy. I wish I could get mine to look like that...

Fab booties and socks also! I like the studs on the booties.

    KILLER

This is the most JOY outfit of the week. You are daring with your pattern mixing, and soooo at ease with it. Inspiring! You finished the challenge with an A++, and it was a joy to see your looks. Stay safe in that storm.

Kkards, I love the sorbet image for the white jeans. They are a nice change from so much dark and blue denim.
Bonnie, thank you. I really enjoy white boots with white pants and am glad you approve the pattern mixing.
Katerina, I kind of missed not pattern mixing in my old blue leopard jeans and belt and not finding a scarf that added anything. Thank you for your kind words.
ChristelJ, I am glad you feel the pattern mixing works here. The sparkly socks are favorites because they are unexpected
    Taylor, you are a sweetheart.
Gigi, I have older white white jeans that I hope to replace but need time for a big try on to evaluate what I have. I think some older cream colored jeans will still work. Some have already been passed on so these might be missed but they could be demoted. A week or so of wearing them to crawl on the floor to race Hot Wheels with my little grandson will do in most jeans unless one wants distressied knees. Thank you for your helpful comment. Almost all jeans, even those labeled as skinny or leggings, fit my skinny legs more like straights. Oh, well.
Angie, a Killer! I am thrilled. Yes, this outfit is the most "me"of my week. I was tempted to wear the floral cardigan with the striped blouse and maybe a floral scarf. But the weather was not cooperating.
Thank you for this challenge. It was fun to think about what to wear. I learned that dressing in other, warmer seasons is more me because it is easier to wear patterns and some accessories. I need to consider more pattern and fun accessories for cold weather. More color too.

This is lovely and the pattern mixing works. I really like the leopard with your white jeans and boots - it lightens it up and bookends your hair.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Thank you, Bijou. I didn't even think how his outfit would play with my hair.

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

We will run the challenge again in warm weather!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Great, I was hoping for a warmer weather version. I never got around to white out or column of color or dresses.

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

I love when you walk on the wild side Joy! My only issue with the outfit is the photos are too dark to fully appreciate!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

I am sorry for the dark photos. I will try to lighten them.
    ETA: lightened photos
