A ROG outfit for a rainy day with chance of snow.

This was a Random Outfit Generator outfit pick as I remember it. My question is especially about the wide crops. They are new from Gap. This is the Short size. Should they be shortened more? They are quite comfortable and should be great for summer. I know ROG picked these pants, the AT top and the denim jacket. I am pretty sure that these were the shoes or some other flat in a light neutral. I can't remember the bag but needed to use a large one so went with this navy tote. What do you think? I am open to suggestions for improvement and other styling ideas.

To me, the crops look fine. And I love the blouse and the colour combo. The outfit looks fun, feminine, comfortable and summer-ish. I wouldn't choose it for a snowy day.

The bag looks rather dark, big and heavy with this outfit. How about a bag in a lighter colour and material?

Could you tell me a little more about the Random Outfit Generator? I am not familiar with the concept.

I think this looks great, Joy. I love that you went for light colors with the red top. Very spring-like event though the weather isn't.

This is a great outfit for the top, especially with the light denim jacket.

Cute outfit!  Happy colors!  A really successful combo for the crops, tunic and jean jacket.

Another vote for a lighter bag. With the top untucked as it is here I kinda want to see more sandal-like footwear; with these shoes I think a tucked and blousoned top is the way to go (especially if the denim jacket hits lower than the pants waistband). I like the pants length but have a hunch that in inch up would be a little easier to work with.

Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. The Cat, the Random Outfit Generator is in finds. If you enter items from your own wardrobe or similar finds, you can have outfits generated from your own closet. It is one of my favorite features of this site.
Go to the top of the page and select Finds at the top left, last option. Then look down the right side for a long blue oval that says "Outfit Generator". Click on it and a random outfit will come up made from Finds. There are options at the bottom left. Click again for a new outfit.

This is a great spring outfit, even if the weather wasn't cooperating. I like the idea of a lighter bag, too, now that others mention it. (Don't know if I would have put my finger on it.) I like the length of the crops. Great find!

What a great outfit! The only quibble I have with ROG is the bag. I love the bag but it is a bit dark and heavy for this outfit.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Thank you, Firecracker and Shevia and others who mentioned the bag being too dark. I think ROG picked a lighter bag, but it was too small for my needs. However, I have a large tote that is lighter that would work. Often ROG seems to try to match or blend bag and footwear. I should have paid attention.

This is fun Joy! It's a Loft top though, several Fabbers got it. Didn't Angie first do the ROG as an April Fool's post though? I will have to check the old April 1 posts. My fave is the butt cleavage one.

  • Jenni NZ replied 6 years ago

Yes! The Cat you had better check the archives :)

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Thanks, Jenni. ROG can come up with some crazy combinations. I think Angie modeled one. It also can get the creative juices flowing and seems to have learned some tricks.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Hopefully, this fun look scared away the snow.

I never thought about this top (which I have) with light colored crops (which I hope to get). Lovely!

  • Mirjana replied 6 years ago

Lovely outfit. I also vote for lighter bag.

Thank you for refreshing my mind when it comes to ROG. Now I actually remember having read about it long ago. But I didn't think much about it back then, partly because I considered it to be some kind of joke, partly because I am very happy with my own system for creating outfits from random items. I have always enjoyed playing around with my clothes and invented a sort of system for myself already when I was a child. During the decades, it has been refined so that I won't end up with an outfit that isn't suitable for the occasion or the weather. ;-)

Really pretty, Joy!  And it has a great summery vibe, while still keeping you covered in the cooler spring temperatures.

ROG is your special style assistant, Joy! I kno if you have a  wardrobe full of well coordinated updated  great pieces, you ca nen never go wrong with it, but this is more than that! Gorgeous!:-))

Thank you all for your comments and ideas.
Angie, the snow is still coming down. About 3 more inches are predicted for tonight.
Christina, don't you love this top? I really like it with denim but liked the light shade with it too.
Mirjana, I will remember to use a lighter bag.
The Cat and Lyn67, the Random Outfit Generator is a great tool and gives inspiration even if you do not use your own wardrobe.
Kerlyn, yes, I run cold and need to cover up on these cold spring days.
Bonus photo of our mid-May snow. It is deeper now.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

OH NO. And I have been complaining all year about our cold weather.

  • Diana replied 6 years ago

    I can't believe it's snowing there!

Love the outfit.  I like the pants length as is with these shoes. I suspect you might want them an inch shorter if you want to wear ankle strap shoes though.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Angie, our weather mostly comes from Seattle. The moisture you have gets push up by the mountains and we are getting it as snow, sleet and hail. Lots of branches down and new leaves frozen off for at least the second time this season. This will mean dead trees.
Diana, thank you for your comment on pant length. I am washing them (100% cotton) in warm water and low dryer to see if they will shrink some.

  • RobinF replied 6 years ago

I like this and think the pants length is good. Agree with a lighter bag although I probably wouldn't have come up with that on my own. And I like the idea of strappy sandals with them when your weather cooperates. I thought we had it bad in Michigan! Luckily it seems we're done with snow.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Thank you, Robin. I hope that you are done with snow. I am afraid our humming birds may not have made it. I've not seen them since yesterday morning and they came often to the feeder

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

My friend calked the weather in the Chi Tri-polar lol 80 And sun one day the next 43 and rain so weird.

I agree with the purse being lighter. Joy i just eant to say i love your fits. I enjoy seeing your interpretation of the inspirations.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

It seems like the weather can be strange and undependable everywhere. A few minutes ago the sun was shining and it was raining. Most of the snow is gone and the hail seemed to have stipped plants . The heavy snow also broke many tree limbs.
Thank you, Ledonna, for your support and comments. I hope that you were able to get out with Z'J and have fun this weekend.
