As far as the first week is concerned, I have learned that I don't have enough pieces to keep up with laundry for my needs. A more doable challenge for me would be 40x40 or 60x60 This ( 60x60) would take most if not all of my seasonal wardrobe, so about everything could get worn.
II would also like to not count shoes. I allowed 4 pair...2 casual and 2 smart casual. t would be better to have 3 pair of each or more, both because hot weather outfits depend heavily on interesting footwear and for more changes for heathy, happy feet ( like changes in heel height which I forgot to include).
On the plus side, this is making getting dressed easy because there are few choices. The things I am wearing will be throughly evaluated. I am beginning to see what works best.

Joy -- You look so FABULOUS. THAT is why you are my personal style icon. My favorites are numbers 2 and 3. So elegant.
SO. The laundry thing. That does make it challenging, doesn't it? I do one load a day. I do a load of whites on day 1, darks on day 2, sheets/towels on day 3. I have always done this so I knew I would be ok on laundry. Most women (heck, people) don't do laundry this way. I think I am the weird one here.
I am going to get through the 30 x 30 challenge. I very much doubt I could do a 60 x 60 challenge. I did pull everything into a single lonely closet. It does make getting dressed easier. But I can see how this could be boring FAST.
WRT counting shoes. Many people who do these types of challenges do not count accessories!! We could have chosen to exclude shoes. You still can, Joy. This is your challenge and I want you to be happy.

I also do one load of laundry a day but line dry almost everything. I needed my jeans today but they were still damp. It was cool and rainy but I walked the dog in my skirt :). I will try to keep to the 30 but thank you for understanding.

Joy--you look so current and pretty in all these outfits. And, yes--with a small wardrobe, you do have to keep up with laundry. IRL, I have a bunch of duplicate items so, although my outfits are not so varied, I do have enough pieces just in case laundry bottleneck occurs. And, as you mention, line drying can be the bottleneck.

My favourite outfits are the ones with exposed arms. Joy, you have great arms and such elegant/dainty ankles! #2 and #3/4 get gold stars.

Joy, you have a lot of variety and really great outfits, my favorites are 3-4, and 5-6. You look so chic and sophisticated in all black.

Joy you look so elegant in all the outfits. Black is so flattering on you. It makes your hair sparkle. And you do have great arms!

Great outfits as always, Joy. Agreeing with Style Fan about the black - and the toned arms. Also love the stripes.

I love #3,4,5,6,7.
You look great in a column of black, with your white skin and hair as contrast.
Pretty blouse in #7 and great metallic shoes.
Also love top #5, I'm slightly bothered by the pant length with those shoes (I'd try #3 shoes with the outfit) but I let Angie ponder on that.
#1 top is too short, sure. And I'm not fond of the proportions of longer toppers #2,8.

Love the red in 6 and 7 for appearing to be cool and easy

Joy -- I hang everything to dry too (except sheets/towels). I have a full attic. I hang everything on hangers in my attic. During the summer months everything is dry when I want to wear it. Even that same day sometimes. This system breaks down during the winter months. Then I kinda drape things around the House. Not such a great look.

Hi I love 2 for the white shoes with white jeans, 3 for the black strap sandals, and 5/6 for the colours and bag. All gorgeous Joy x

I can't pick a favorite, I like all of these! I also really enjoy those white flats with the strap on them that you have in these looks, they are lovely!

Thank you all for your replies, preferences and suggestions. I clearly need to double check what spell-check has done to my posts. Thank you for the compliments on my arms. They mean a lot as I inherited a tendency for upper arm flab. Also black. I could never wear black when younger, so I do enjoy it now.
The white flats with the strap are Cole Haan athletic flats from a couple of years ago. They work so well for me that I duplicated in light grey. I was wanting ankle strap white flats similar to the black ones but never found any that worked for my skinny ankles.
Sterling, no easy attic access here but DH just installed a drying rack in the garage, which is handy to the laundry room. Maybe it will speed up drying. Fingers crossed.
Skylurker, thank you for your detailed observations. That short top in 1 may soon be history. I hope to try it with higher rise bottoms before completely rejecting it. The jeans shown with it are gone because of their low rise. A learning from this 30x30 experience is that I am faster to let things go if forced to wear them when I'd rather not.

These are great! The stickers in #8 are making me smile, and you look sooo chic in the all-black ensemble in 3/4.

Great outfits. I *really* like 3 and 4, though...black suits you! And I agree your arms look very toned. I live in fear of my arms getting flabby someday, LOL. You're proof positive that they don't have to be.

I am interested in your comment about getting rid of things easier if forced to wear them. I am trying in my current personal challenge to wear my unworn or less worn stuff to try and see WHY I don't wear it. The 4 things I got rid of recently I had been wearing a lot but they were dying or not looking so great. I have found without them I am wearing other things and so far I like them. At least it helps me not to shop to replace the 4. I got rid of 2 olive tops and one olive pant so am glad I didn't buy the autumnal olives I had thought of in April/May- I don't need them now.

My first thought: looks to me like Joy has been on a shopping spree!
No 8--You have a young fashion designer coming on. Decorated tees are very trendy now.I am sure you have noticed you have to shell out more money for the more elaborate ones.
Seriously, Joy, I think you have done a great job this week. Keep up the good work.

Joy replied 7 years ago
Thank you for your encouragement. Bridgie , your comments about my toddler decorated tee make me smile.
Jenni, you make a good point. I hope that I will not buy replacement pieces unless absolutely needed. I can find replacements in my closet most of the time. I need to get rid of the pieces that don't fit as well as I'd like them to or with other pieces. Or I may just not enjoy them any more. You are wise to work to find out why you are not wearing things. I will try more of that.

Your arms are awesome! Keep showing them off! The outfits are all great, too. :)
And those are great lessons. I was nodding along when you commented about being more willing to get rid of things that aren't working when you're forced to wear them more. I have a few things in my 30x30 that are getting a hard evaluation now when I found myself not wanting to wear them when I planned to.

Beautiful outfits all around, I especially like #6 and #7. And good lessons too, that is the best part of these challenges.
